RAW Chronicles - July 2025

🐾 Dogs, Dives & Dates for Your Diary 🤿

Can you believe it’s July already? It feels like we blinked and somehow found ourselves halfway through the year! We’re hoping the sunshine makes a strong comeback soon. Fingers crossed, we haven’t used up all our good weather luck back in spring. 😬

Despite the unpredictable skies, things have been buzzing here at RAW Photography Manchester, and we've got some fantastic updates to share with you in this month’s blog 🐝

Capturing the Grace of Age – Senior Dog Session

Did you know that we photograph not only puppies and sprightly adult dogs, but also beloved senior companions? We even offer end-of-life sessions, tailored gently and respectfully to honour your pet's twilight years.

Last month, we had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful doggy duo: Mollie, a wise 14-year-old Golden Retriever, and Daisy, her 2-year-old whirlwind of a sister. While Daisy bounced through the shoot full of beans, Mollie took things slow and steady, and that was absolutely fine by us.

We carefully chose a peaceful local spot where Mollie’s parents could park nearby, allowing us to work at her pace. With patience and planning, we captured some beautiful images 🤗

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes snippet from their shoot. We strive to bring out the best in every dog, no matter their age or energy level! 🐾

Red Sea Adventures – Diving Deep! 🐠

You know us: no rest for the wicked! Even on holiday, we’re chasing adventure and inspiration. This time, we swapped our camera straps for scuba tanks and headed to the Red Sea for a dive trip.

We stayed at the lovely Oriental Rivoli Hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh: lovely food, kind and helpful staff. But the real highlight was diving with Camel Dive Club: a top-notch dive centre we can’t recommend enough.

A massive shoutout to instructors Hana, Alessia, and Ali, as well as the boat crew. They were the perfect mix of professional, friendly, and endlessly enthusiastic—our kind of people! We explored the vibrant underwater world of Ras Mohammed National Park, filled with surprising and colourful aquatic life.

Filming underwater is a whole different ball game compared to photographing on land. Light behaves differently below the surface, colours shift with depth (bye-bye lovely reds and oranges!), and buoyancy can turn framing a shot into a core workout! It takes patience, practice, and a bit of luck to capture steady, vibrant footage in such a dynamic environment. But when it all comes together, the results are totally worth the effort.

Curious what it looked like under the surface? Here’s a humble short video from our trip. (Don’t forget to turn on HD quality 👌)

Coming Up: Paws in the Park – 30 August

Mark your calendars, dog lovers! We're super excited to be part of Paws in the Park, an event hosted by the amazing local charity PAWS. It’s happening in Queen’s Park, Heywood, on Friday, 30 August, from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Expect a day full of stalls, games, raffles, tombola, and most importantly, dogs! We’ll be there showcasing our work, chatting with fellow pet lovers, and capturing the event. Come say hello, support a brilliant cause, and soak up the community spirit.

That’s a wrap for our July update. Whether you're out exploring with your pets or just enjoying a good cuppa in the garden, we wish you a sunny, joy-filled summer.

Until next time! Stay cool, stay kind, and give your furry friends an extra cuddle from us. ☀️🐶
